These pictures are old. Like, two weeks old. Someone in our family got a little anxious and decided to celebrate early.... may or may not have had something to do with the fact that I thought Gabe was bored and I was out of ideas to entertain him :) Anyway, we had our Christmas as a family of 3 (well, 4 really) a couple weeks before the actual day.
Gabe's first present was a stick pony. Simple, yes, but so fun. The ear makes the pony neigh and Gabe thinks it is hilarious. Rumor has it that Santa saw Gabe playing with it at Cracker Barrel and for $8, couldn't pass up the opporutnity to give the elves a break.
We kept our gift giving to a minimal this year, seeing as it is the last Christmas we can really get away with giving G necessities like clothes. He had no idea what was going on, and really enjoyed the tissue paper, bags, and boxes more than the toys.
His two favorites, though, were the Craftsman tool kit (a HUGE hit still) and this tent with connecting tunnel. He loves to crawl though it and be chased by his dad. This mom is too much of a whale to do any crawling or chasing these days...
We had a great day as a little family and look forward to creating many more Christmas memories and traditions. We've already started an annual gingerbread decorating contest, and are thinking we will start giving Christmas eve pj's and a family gift of a board game or puzzle to do on the night of the 24th. We'll also make cookies for Santa and read "The Night Before Christmas" once Gabe is big enough. We, of course, read Luke 2 on Christmas morning and I'm thinking of making our Christmas desert be a birthday cake for Jesus, where we can sing and remember His birth!
What traditions do you and your family have, besides the usual decorating the tree/house/Christmas music?
And strictly for your viewing pleasure, here's the little Santa that graced our house this year!
"You tell Rudolph I don't care how cold it is, we're late!"
