Halloween

Wow, this is a record. Posting about the actual holiday only 9 days later? Amazing.

Anyway, our Halloween was fun this year! Gabe was a shark and Claire was a butterfly. Gabe did have one slight meltdown when he decided he wanted to be Woody and have Claire be Jessie. Not happening, bud. I'm all about the $5 Old Navy costumes and not the $35 Disney ones. Sorry!

We did two trunk-or-treats which were fun but insanely crowded and had long lines. Next year, I think I'd rather host a small Halloween party for our friends with games and activities and skip the trunk-or-treats... or only go to the one at church. Hot dogs, hot chocolate, popcorn, and bounce houses are hard to pass up... especially if daddy is there to help out.

We then went trick-or-treating on the actual holiday and it was a lot of fun. Gabe really understood what to do (minus the "only take one piece not the whole bowl" concept, but can't say I blame him... if someone puts a giant bowl of candy in front of a 3 year old, who WON'T take 12 pieces?) His big problem that night was that he dropped his Mickey Mouse pumpkin in pond water and couldn't use it to go trick-or-treating. It was gross and wet. He was crying so hard that the neighbor went inside and got him another pumpkin. He didn't like it nearly as much as his Mickey one but at least he agreed to use it (not without asking me 100 times where HIS pumpkin one.)

Both kids did surprisingly well and stayed close to me the majority of the time. Gabe did get tired at one point and started waiting at the bottom of the driveway for Claire to go get candy. He said he didn't want more. Whatever, kid... go get it so that mom can eat it! ;) Just kidding, we wound up sending the majority of our candy to Aaron anyway!

I'm really looking forward to next year when Aaron can join us.
