Baby Names

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

Today is Baby Names at Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life. I usually check out her various "Show Us Your Life" posts for home decorating ideas and the like, but I've never actually participated.
After having our two babies, I am a little obsessed with names. No joke. I about drove myself crazy with our second looking at names nonstop! I feel like they are so important, based on Biblical truths...
Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is more desirable than great riches..."

Ecclesiastes 7:1- "A good name is better than fine perfume..."

and also just for day to day living!

My husband and I prefer classic names, that grow into adulthood well (have you ever done the doctor test? You know, "paging Dr. so and so..."?), but are fun and not super common. We don't like names that are hard to pronounce/spell or seem too silly.

Our first son is Gabriel Carson.

When I was pregnant with him, we planned on naming him Carson Burke. Carson, after Fort Carson, where we met, fell in love, were married, and conceived Gabe. Burke was Aaron's grandfather's name and Aaron's middle name. Once he was born, he just didn't seem like a Carson. It took us five days, and we tossed around other names such as Brody, Benjamin (in fact, when we left the hospital we thought he was "Ben" but the naming office was closed!), and Luke. We wanted Carson to be his middle name since it carried so much meaning to us. Finally, we settled on Gabriel. It means "Man of God" and lets him choose from either Gabe or Gabriel as his name. It's not too common, but not weird either, and carries lots of meaning.

Our newest peanut is Claire Denae.

She was not easy to name! Before we knew if we were having a girl or a boy, our girl name was Gianna Grace. St. Gianna in the Catholic faith was an incredible woman, Gianna means "Grace of God", and it is a beautiful name. However, we're not Italian, and didn't want our little girl to constantly be asked if she was Italian. We also didn't want to get stuck in naming all of our kids "G" names. Seems silly, but it really bugged me!

I loved the name Charlotte, but wasn't a fan of the many nicknames. Aaron really liked Chloe and Adelyn. Claire just seemed to grow better and sound best with Gabe. We thought we would use Elizabeth as her middle name (my middle name) but decided we wanted to honor my mom, who I am super close with. Her name is Denise, but she's not a big fan of her name, so we altered it a little to Denae. Aaron's sister's middle name is Renae so it is a combination of both. We love it.

Claire means illustrious, bringer of light, and we think it fits her perfect.

You my dear friend have the most beautiful and precious babies. Sometimes I can't even believe that you are a mom...of 2! I remember the days we used to daydream about when you would have babies of your own. I'm so proud of you Laura. I'm so proud of you!

you do have beautiful babies. and I love both names. great choices, and really seem to fit them both. though, I will say I'm a big fan of "Burke". You should save that one. Or maybe I will steal it from you ;)
